Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) Learning Cohort

Date

Oct 01, 2023 - Jun 28, 2024

The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven is offering the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) Learning Cohort exclusively for nonprofit teams from organizations serving the Greater New Haven community. This 9-month program aims to enhance nonprofit leaders’ understanding of DEIB concepts, identify common challenges nonprofits face in advancing equity and provide a peer group to discuss challenges and successes. There will be a practical focus on providing board chairs, executive directors and other members of the organization with the groundwork and tools for success in establishing and achieving equity goals.

Participants will have the opportunity to develop a network of peers with whom to learn and share ideas in a brave, supportive, and confidential space. This network will meet monthly from October 2023 to June 2024 and may continue as the group desires. We ask that at least one Board member and one staff member attend each monthly meeting. Additional participants are welcome. Remote or in person format, time/day and duration will be determined by the group.

In addition, we ask that each participating organization engage with a DEIB consultant to work with staff and Board. The Community Foundation will provide up to $2,000 to fund the consultation and require participating organizations to contribute $1,000 to expand the work with the consultant.

Participants will be selected through an application process to create a group that has potential to learn and grow together.

Qualifications:

  • Applicants must currently be the CEO or Board Chair of a nonprofit based in Greater New Haven.
  • The nonprofit must have been in existence for at least two years (501c3 status).
  • There must be full support from the Board of Directors, as evidenced by a letter of support provided by the Board Chair.
  • Priority will be given to nonprofits that have engaged prior DEIB professional development and/or have established racial equity goals for the organization.

Application deadline is now closed. Applicants will be notified of the selection results by September 22, 2023.
