SNAP Losses: How You Can Help

On Nov. 1, an estimated 360,000 Connecticut residents stand to lose access to Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits. New reporting from DataHaven shows a heat map of the 58,000 Connecticut families who would lose $25 or more per month. In New Haven alone, residents would lose upwards of $1 million monthly in SNAP benefits.

How you can help:

  • Help provide direct cash assistance to families with children and elderly households who have lost SNAP by supporting United Way’s Neighbor United.

  • Use 211, or consult the list below, to find a local food pantry near you if you are in need, or if you want to donate or volunteer.

  • Give to The Community Foundation’s Basic Needs Fund, which helps ensure our neighbors have access to the most foundational items and services they need to live. Since 2020, the Fund has been meeting urgent needs across Greater New Haven.
