SNAP Losses: How You Can Help

On Nov. 1, an estimated 360,000 Connecticut residents stand to lose access to Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits. New reporting from DataHaven shows a heat map of the 58,000 Connecticut families who would lose $25 or more per month. In New Haven alone, residents would lose upwards of $1 million monthly in SNAP benefits.
How you can help:
Support United Way’s Neighbors United Emergency Response Fund, which provides direct cash assistance to families with children and elderly households who have lost SNAP.
Find and support a food pantry near you. Use the Connecticut Foodshare Find Food locator or consult the list below.
- Give to The Community Foundation’s Basic Needs Fund, which helps ensure our neighbors have access to the most foundational items and services they need to live. Since 2020, the Fund has been meeting urgent needs across Greater New Haven.
