Oct. 18, 2017 - The Latino Experience: Living in Two Worlds

The Progreso Latino Fund hosted a Forum featuring actor, writer and comedian Elizardi Castro to benefit the Latino communities recovering from 2017 Hurricanes and Earthquakes.

A Progreso Latino Fund Forum

Actor, writer and comedian Elizardi Castro performed live on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 from 5:30 - 9:00 at the invitation of The Progreso Latino Fund. The Forum

Nearly 200 guests assembled at the New Haven Lawn Club in October to watch Elizardi Castro perform a fabulously entertaining take on the richness of our shared Latino culture. The crowd was stirred early on by an invitation to spontaneously sing a well-known Puerto Rican lullaby. Elizardi's performance lifted both voices and hearts as stories of families were reflected on stage with love and humor. Please visit the photo gallery for a view of the evening. And listen to an interview with Elizardi to hear about his personal journey and the opportunities and challenges he thinks face the Latino community today.

Thanks to the generosity and heartfelt response from guests, more than $8,000 was raised that night to support vital relief efforts in Puerto Rico and Mexico.

The Progreso Latino Fund is now working with New Haven City officials to respond to the needs of families who have come to New Haven from Puerto Rico and Mexico. To support this critical work, please join us and make your gift today.
