Greater New Haven Community Raises $4.6 Million Through The Great Give 2026
Thousands of gifts support hundreds of local nonprofits
New Haven, Conn. (May 8, 2026) – The Great Give raised $4,618,949 over 36 hours for 546 nonprofit organizations serving Greater New Haven, a new record for the giving event.
While the prizes and matches concluded at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 7, donations are being accepted until 8 a.m. on Monday, May 11, when official final totals will be announced.
Now in its 17th year, the annual online giving event hosted by The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven raises awareness and critical support for the hundreds of nonprofits serving the region. Donations are made on the giving site TheGreatGive.org, where nonprofits are searchable by categories including the arts, children and youth, basic needs, health, animals and more.
This year’s Great Give was held May 6-7 and featured $218,000 in matching pools and random prize draws sponsored by businesses and organizations throughout the region as well as The Community Foundation and the Valley Community Foundation. More than $1 million in additional matching fund contributions was contributed by board members and supporters of participating organizations.
“Greater New Haven has once again demonstrated the power of collective generosity at a time when many nonprofits — and the people who rely on them — are navigating the real impacts of funding reductions and shifting federal policies,” says President and CEO of The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven, Karen DuBois-Walton. “Every gift made through The Great Give helps strengthen organizations that provide essential services, create opportunities, and improve quality of life across our community. The impact of this giving will be felt far beyond these 36 hours.”
Fair Haven Community Health Care (FHCHC) and CitySeed collaborated on a Great Give campaign aimed at deepening their partnership to provide fresh, locally grown, nutrient-dense produce at farmers markets and at FHCHC’s Food Farmacy. Working together, the organizations raised more than $144,000.
“The opportunity to tell our shared story is really special,” says Maggie Moffett, FHCHC’s chief development officer. “We definitely had more throttle because of the support that we were receiving from one another. I think the community really responded to that, and I think they also felt that the value of their dollar had potential to do a lot more when it was getting behind an organization that was partnered with another high-caliber institution.”
CT Beds, a West Haven nonprofit that delivers new beds to families in need, raised more than $22,000 in its first year of participation.
“It’s honestly been a high,” says Jonpaul "Jae" Rivera, CT Beds founder. “By the end of the day, I’ll have 20 beds fully made, and this is only possible because of things like The Great Give. With just a couple of bucks and some exposure, you can change somebody’s life.”
CT Beds received donation matches from the Town Fair Tire Foundation 2:1 match as well as the Progreso Latino Fund’s match pool. It also won this year’s new Six Seven Prize of $1,000.
