After her retirement, Ilene Saulsbury sought to further her philanthropic work on behalf of children by establishing a fund in her name at The Community Foundation.
Originally created as a donor advised fund to support nonprofits dear to Ilene in her lifetime, the fund became a preference fund upon Ilene's death in 2015, per her wishes. Today her fund supports early childhood initiatives and organizations benefiting women and girls in perpetuity.
