Shortly after becoming executive director at New Haven Legal Assistance Association in 2012, Susan Garcia Nofi learned about the Community Fund for Women & Girls. Currently serving as Advisory Board Chair, her participation with the Fund has "sharpened her gender lens prescription," bringing the status of women into focus right in her own community.

Susan's mother, who immigrated from Argentina, was a huge influence on her life. "Education was a big deal, I was the first in my family to go to college. I grew up never taking opportunity for granted, because I knew what my family sacrificed for those opportunities. Everyone deserves the same access to opportunity."

Drawn to the Fund by the concept and power of women coming together and investing in the advancement of other women, Susan sees continued growth in the future, with the commitment of volunteers, nonprofit partners and donors.

An avid triathlete and marathoner, Susan is also involved with TriEqual, a nonprofit group advocating for equal opportunity and increased participation and inclusiveness at all levels. She will take part in her first Ironman in Lake Placid this summer.
