Advisory Board Spotlight: Elaine Battles

Read more about Elaine Battles, former Advisory Board member of the Community Fund for Women & Girls.

When 2015 drew to a close, so too did Elaine Battles' tenure on the Advisory Board. What began as an invitation to serve on the Grants Committee led to six years as an Advisor as well as leadership of the Governance Committee for the retired 83-year-old. Battles, who has lived in New Haven since 2002, is a graduate of Drexel University. Elaine is a retired nonprofit professional with a dedication to community service. She previously served as Executive Director of the United Way in NJ and has been an active member of the Association for Fundraising Professionals (AFP).

Elaine reflects fondly on her time spent with The Fund. "I think it is a tremendous Board with a wonderful staff behind it. Together, we are able to launch many of the initiatives concerning women, and we are a diverse Board, which means we are reaching many groups in the community."

Best wishes to Elaine as she takes time to pursue her passions of art, theater and education in New Haven, the city where she has found her roots.
