Advancing Racial Equity

Black Futures Fund

The purpose of the BFF is to advance racial equity in Greater New Haven by building a stronger future for Black communities. It works to tackle the structures that contribute to racial disparities in our community and build a sense of common destiny among peoples of all races in our community through a shared understanding of our community’s history.

What the Black Futures Fund Supports:

  1. Promoting Black leadership through expanding mentoring, networking, and professional development opportunities.
  2. Enhancing opportunities for civic education and engagement.
  3. Providing programming, grantmaking and capacity building support for Black-led organizations.
  4. Cultivating shared learning, convening, and engagement across groups of all races to build broad coalitions for positive social change.
  5. Centering the needs and interests of those affected by structural racism.
  6. Supporting grassroots organizing and advocacy.
  7. Increasing economic inclusion by building a stronger future for the Black community.
  8. Supporting emerging leaders, voices, ideas and collaborations on the front lines of challenging historical and cultural attitudes.
  9. Raising funds to accomplish the above activities.
