PLF Supports LatinX Youth

LatinX programming for LGBTQ youth and college scholarships receive funding awards.

Supporting Education and the Youth

The Progreso Latino Fund was founded on the desire to support the educational and life aspirations of local Latinos, with a focus on the youth. Two recent grants awarded by PLF Advisory Board continue this legacy.

New Haven Pride Center

A $3,000 grant to New Haven Pride Center will expand the LatinX programming and create new opportunities for LGBTQ youth to engage with the center. New Haven Pride Center is the only nonprofit in the area offering comprehensive services and programming in Spanish, and has a dedicated LatinX program officer on staff and a LatinX case manager.

Founders Scholarship

In recognition of the severe hardships caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the PLF Advisory Committee added $3,000 to the Founders Scholarship to support a second New Haven LatinX student in the spring of 2021. The scholarship was established in 2018 in honor of the Progreso Latino Fund founders. The award is made through the New Haven Scholarship Fund.
