Intro to Bequests

Learn how to develop of a bequest strategy and about the best practices for marketing, recognizing and stewarding bequests. The session is designed for professional and volunteer fundraisers with little to moderate experience.

What is a bequest? Are all bequests created equal? What is the difference between a major gift program and a bequest program?

It's been estimated that Baby Boomers, now reaching retirement age at a rate of 10,000 per day, will pass on some $30 trillion over the next 30 to 40 years. Successful nonprofits take bequests very seriously to help them capture some of this wealth transfer. Even small nonprofits can set up a bequest program to ensure their survival well into the future.
