Gifts and transfer exceeded $15 million and largely consisted of gifts to funds over which donors exercise grantmaking discretion and transfers to funds managed for other agencies, continuing trends of recent years.

By partnering with community foundations, the Merrill Lynch Community Charitable Fund has enabled their clients to plug into grant making programs, community expertise and local philanthropic peer groups. Donor advised giving through this vehicle at The Foundation increased 133% from 2005 through 2006.
Planned giving is a way to remember the community in your will. A $2.2 million bequest fromWinkler and Virginia Dietz Gosch, the largest gift in 2006, will provide continuing support for environmental causes.
Margaret Mack, a donor, and a member of the Foundation’s Nettie Dayton Society, bequeathed her home to The Foundation. The sale of the property resulted in a gift of approximately $500,000 to the Margaret Mack Fund. |
