Now in its 3rd year of operation, the Valley Community Foundation has 46 named funds, close to $6 million in assets, and a growing presence through community leadership and grants.
For many years, The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven collaborated with philanthropic leaders in the Valley on key issues via the Valley Advisory Committee(VAC). In May 2000, the VAC and Community Foundation started to explore ways to address issues identified in a VAC-commissioned, regional assessment report entitled Addressing Needs and Opportunities in the Lower Naugatuck Valley: A Funding Strategy. This exploration culminated in the creation of a new philanthropic institution known as the Valley Community Foundation on February 13, 2004. |
