Working with Chatham Square residents to revitalize their neighborhood

It involves improving the neighborhood image, physical condition, marketability and community management to attract and create positive investment opportunities for homebuyers, neighbors, business, and others.

Chatham Square has many existing assets to attract and retain both families and businesses. These assets include: a strong support from residents, an existing tie to the area through the Community Gardens and Community Greenspace Program and the Square’s close proximity to anchoring institutions, sources of employment, and commercial and manufacturing businesses on Grand Avenue and Lombard Street.

In addition, a major rehabilitation effort to replace institutional public housing with attractive single and multi-family houses suitable for mixed-incomes is already in process.

Success in Chatham Square will be determined by many factors including an increase in homeownership and social interaction among neighbors, improved municipal services, and a reduction in crime.

To schedule a tour of Fair Haven and learn how you can support the work in Chatham Square, contact Lee Cruz, senior philanthropic officer, at lcruz@cfgnh.org or call 203.777.7074.
