Hispanics make up the largest minority population in the State of Connecticut today. Despite their numbers, they face many challenges like gaining access to health and education services and overcoming racism and discrimination. Deeply rooted in a culture that values
comunidad y familia, Latinos have a long cherished tradition of giving through family, neighbors and churches.
The Progreso Latino Fund signals the readiness of the Latino community to play a greater role within philanthropic institutions such as The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven. The Fund was established in 2003 to promote the educational and socio-economic well-being of Latinos in the City of New Haven and the region, with special attention given to Puerto Rican youth.
