The Community Foundation now manages over 80 separate scholarship funds. While most of these are traditional scholarships for high school seniors, others enable children (kindergarten through sixth grade) to attend local tuition based schools or provide the opportunity for single parents and grandparents who have deferred their own studies in order to help raise their children and grandchildren with the means to complete their education.

In 2010, nearly $700,000 in scholarships were awarded to students from individually-named scholarship funds at The Community Foundation and its partner in the Naugatuck Valley, the Valley Community Foundation.

Despite the number of scholarship funds, the need for financial assistance grows each year as education costs increase. We believe that providing access to quality education for the young is an investment in the future of our local community and the means through which we can ensure a brighter future for all residents in our region.

We ask our donors to consider making a gift to any of the scholarship funds at The Foundation. Or, create a scholarship fund in memory or honor of someone important to them. For more information on how to create a scholarship fund, contact Deborah Wright at dwright@cfgnh.org or call 203-777-7073.
