giveGreater.org Grants

Working with Guidestar, a trusted organization that compiles data from nonprofits across the country in one searchable database, The Community Foundation launched a new online knowledge and giving resource called giveGreater.org on November 1, 2010. It's aim? To increase knowledge about the needs and opportunities in our immediate community and to get as many nonprofits in our region in front of as many donors as possible. Nonprofits who created a profile of their organization in time for the launch were eligible to participate in the giveGreater.org 2010 Challenge. Organizations that got a minimum of 50 donors to give at least $50 or more by December 31, 2010 were eligible to win up to $20,000 more in grant prizes from The Community Foundation above what was donated online. Within an hour of the Challenge's start, $50,000 was raised. When all was said and done, more than half-a-million dollars was distributed to participating local nonprofits from individual donor gifts and grant prizes from The Community Foundation.
